Africa to reach goal by 2063
DURBAN – Outlining the 2063 vision for Africa was Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma who launched her coffee table book during a Hilton Hotel breakfast at 7:30 am this morning.
“We hope this book will will give insight into the work we need to do in Africa,” said eThekwini Municipality Mayor, Cllr Zandile Gumede. The coffee-table book details the work of the African Union from 2012-2017 as well as the various initiatives relating to the 2063 vision. “Our vision for Africa is not 2017, but 2063,” said Gumede.
Hosting the event was Independent Media. “We are so honoured to have Dr. Dlamini Zuma with us here, she is one of the most outstanding Africans,” said Executive Chairman of Independent Media, Dr Iqbal Surve.
Detailing the 2063 vision, Dlamini Zuma said, “we know the Africa we have, but what Africa do we want?” Highlighting plans to industrialize an independent Africa by focusing on the continent’s wealth of resources, Dlamini Zuma said that the people are the most valued resource the continent has. “The five-year plan has been replaced by a broader horizon, the 50 year horizon,” said Dlamini Zuma.
