Elderly woman severely injured in crash
DURBAN – A woman in her seventies sustained serious injuries after she collided into the back of a broken down vehicle on the M19 Durban bound near the Blair Atholl offramp just after 1:30 pm today.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the elderly woman entrapped in the wreckage. Rescuers from the Durban Fire Department used hydraulic equipment to cut her free whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics stabilised the injured woman trapped in the wreckage. Once stabilised and freed paramedics extricated her from the wreckage using specialised spinal equipment before transporting her to a nearby hospital for the further care that she required.
SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
