‘Hammer Gang’ strikes another watch store
At about 5.15am today (4 May 2017), jewellery store, The Watch Movement, at the Crescent Shopping Centre in uMhlanga was struck by armed robbers. This group is allegedly known as the Hammer gang.
It is alleged that the suspects stormed into the jewellery store with high calibre artillery and heavy objects to break through glass, smashing the windows and doors and looting the shelves. The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of items.
According to reports, the modus operandi used mirrors those in similar incidents at jewellery stores in the Pearls Shopping Centre, the Pavillion, Gateway, Musgrave and Chatsworth Centre.
The store has been cordoned off while police carry out investigation.
