PINETWON – At 10am, on Monday, May 23, the Pinetown Trio Task Team had yet again arrested two suspects aged 34 and 35 in the Pinetown area. This follows the arrest of the first suspect on May 17 for the same case of carjacking.
It is alleged that in April at about 9am the 3 armed suspects confronted two victims who were delivering bread in Wyebank near Pinetown.Both victims were forcefully pushed into their vehicle where the driver was shot and injured.After driving a few kilometers the suspects released the victims near the Inanda area, and drove off with the vehicle.
The hijacked vehicle was later found abandoned in the same area. Cash and cellphones were taken from the victims whilst the injured victim was taken to hospital for treatment. It is reported that the recent two suspects are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court and the first suspect had already appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on May 18 and was remanded in custody until May 25 for bail application.
A case hijacking and attempted murder was opened at Pinetown police station for further investigation.
The Acting KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa praised the members for the arrest of the two suspects who were allegedly involved in hijacking and attempted murder.“Our detectives will continue to work hard , in order to conclude if the arrested suspects wanted for other hijackings in the province,” he said.
