One killed in Cato Manor hit and run
One person was killed in a hit and run on Wiggins Road in Cato Manor at about 10pm on Saturday, November 12.
It is alleged the four pedestrians were walking on the side of the road when they were hit by a taxi.
One person was killed after the taxi collided into them. The taxi driver then fled the scene.
Paramedics assessed the injured and found that a man in his twenties had sustained critical injuries and had passed away before paramedics could arrive. He was declared dead at the scene.
The three other pedestrians were found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.
At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
Captain Chris Sibiya spokesperson of the Cato Manor SAPS has confirmed that a 26-year- old male was killed in a hit and run, “Upon police arrival, the deceased body was found on the side of the road. No arrests have been made, however, police are waiting for witnesses to confirm the vehicle registration number” he said.
