Visitor to SA injured after Uber crashes
CANELANDS: A Norwegian woman who was on her way to King Shaka Airport is suffering minor injuries and traumatised after the Uber taxi she boarded collided with a truck and traffic light.
It is alleged that she was in South Africa to complete her Psychology Studies & resides in Oslo Norway. At approx 8:30am, Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to Canelands and R102 intersection after a motorist reported a collision.
It was alleged that she was enroute to the airport to board a flight to Europe when the Uber driver allegedly ignored a red light and crashed into the truck. The woman described the Uber driver as the driver from “hell” who almost collided several times between Berea and Verulam and had taken her off her route causing her an hour delay.
According to RUSA, the 23-year -old woman suffered minor injuries and paramedics found that a White VW Polo had collided with a truck and a traffic light on the northbound lane of the R102. The driver of the Uber taxi and two occupants of the truck were treated on scene and transported to hospital.
It is reported that the woman refused medical assistance and requested the officers to get her to the airport as the boarding gates were about to close.
