AB leads RCB to IPL final
INDIA – AB de Villiers showed exactly why he is considered one of the best batsmen in the world as he single handedly lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore to the Indian Premier League final.
RCB needing 159 to win in the first qualifier against the Gujarat Lions chased down the total with AB leading the charge with an unbeaten 79 not out.
The South African Test and ODI skipper has had an incredible IPL season with the bat, he is the second leading run scorer behind his team-mate and captain Virat Kholi who is closing in on 1000 runs with the final still to come.
De Villiers has scored 692 runs with 1 century and six half ton’s, Kholi on the other hand has notched up 3 hundred’s and like AB has six fifties.
Kholi is considered the best T20 batsman in the world, however he was quoted saying on Instagram after AB’s heroics: “What a performance, big game, pressure situation and the BEST in the world delivers like no one. So happy proud of you my brother, God bless you always. Grate @abdevilliers17.”
The Royals will now await the winner of the second qualifier, the Gujarat Lions might just play them in the finale granted they beat the winner of the eliminator between the Kolkata Knightriders and the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Kolkata and Hyderabad lock horns in the eliminator on May 25, the massive final will be held in Bangalore on Sunday May 29 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The other South Africans left in the tournament are Dale Steyn(Gujarat Lions), David Wiese(Royal Challengers Bnagalore), AB de Villiers(Royal Challengers Bangalore), Morne Morkel(Kolkata Knight Riders) and Tabraiz Shamsi(Royal Challengers Bangalore).
