One killed and three injured in M4 onramp crash
DURBAN CENTRAL – One person has been killed and three others injured one critically so after two vehicles collided at the onramp to the M4 Northern freeway from Argyle Road just after 11.30am this morning.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find total chaos. One vehicle which had three young gentleman in had collided with another vehicle. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and the Fire Department were immediately dispatched to assist as two of the men were entrapped in the wreckage. Two patients had sustained critical injuries and were stabilised by Rescue Care’s Advanced Life Support Paramedics whilst the Durban Fire Department used the jaws of life to free the injured. Once they had been extricated one of the patients went into cardiac arrest and CPR was initiated. Unfortunately due to his injuries he passed away on the scene. The second critically injured patient was placed on a manual ventilator before being rushed to a private hospital nearby for the care that he required. Two other patients including the driver of the second vehicle were also stabilised on the scene before being transported to hospital.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
